INTERESTED IN JOINING THE TEAM?
We encourage those to email or DM us on our social medias if you have questions. We take new member requests at the beginning of the fall semester and hold tryouts for those who are serious about joining. We offer positions for all levels of riding. Members MUST be a valid student at West Virginia University.
FAQ'S:1. "Do I need to bring my own horse/tack?" Nope! Our coach Amy Miller graciously allows us to use her own facilities and horses.
2. "What level of riding do you need to be apart of the team?" We take any level of riding from Open to Walk/Trotters!
3. "Can I join even if I'm still in high school but plan on enrolling in WVU?" Unfortunately no. All members must be a valid student at the time of joining/trying out for the team. We can not take non-students.
4. "Where do we practice?" We practice at our coaches barn in Smock, PA. Which is about a 45 minute drive from Morgantown, WV (It would be helpful to get an EZPass due to toll roads).
5. "Do I need any prior showing experience?" Nope! Members do not need prior showing experience to join.
6. "How much are club dues and IHSA Membership dues?" IHSA dues are $45 and club dues are also $45. Members need to pay the IHSA dues once a year while club dues are twice.
7."Do I need a car?" Not necessarily. We offer carpooling to shows and practices, but it is encouraged members have a car so we can rotate assigned drivers.
8. "What are some of the expected fees/prices for the team?" Members are expected to pay IHSA, club, lessons, and assigned drivers dues. IHSA and Club dues are both $45. Lesson packages run around $500-590 per semester (this includes free hacks at Amy's barn) and passengers in the carpool are expected to pay $5 per trip for gas.
9. "Do you offer any membership for non-showing?" Unfortunately no. We only offer positions for those who want to begin showing or have shown before.
10. "When are tryouts?" We accept new members in the beginning of the fall semester and hold tryouts at our coaches barn. If you are unable to make tryouts or are not chosen, we HIGHLY encourage you to try again the following year due to positions opening after our seniors graduate.
